Chapter 24
Chapter 24
After what felt like ages, Cynthia finally regained her senses. Thinking back on all the crazy stuff she’d done, she buried her whole self in the quilt. “What have I done? It’s so embarrassing shouted Cynthia in her heart,
Her phone was still on the nightstand, audibly playing the sound of water-
-it must be Liam cleaning himself up
Liam watched the lump under the covers arch on the screen, a nearly invisible smirk played on his lips. He wanted to tease her some more but feared that might just anger the bashful girl, so he kept mum.
Cynthia hadn’t been resting well the past two days, and the air under the covers was stuffy. She fell asleep within minutes, without even turning off the call at the foot of her bed.
She slept straight through to 9.30 the next morning, which was the earliest she’d woken up since getting married. Groggy, she turned over, and the memories of last night bombarded her mind.
“Ah,” Cynthia groaned dismally and proceeded to curse that particular man in her heart several times over. She blamed her boldness solely on him.
Rolling out of bed, she noticed her phone was still in the position from last night, with the call still connected; the screen was dark, with occasional rays of light filtering through. It had been on all night
Meanwhile, far away in Antharia, Liam was sitting at the head of the conference table.
The executives, both from Clusia and other countries, were hotly debating the company’s plan to move their headquarters back to Clusia. The discussion had been at a deadlock for two days, with neither side caving
Liam’s brows were deeply furrowed, and his cold gaze swept over everyone present. The move of the headquarters isn’t up for debate. I called you here to produce solutions, not opposition,” he stated, his voice deep and ice–cold, his fingers idly tapping on the table—an intimidating rhythm that echoed in the attendees‘ cores.
The overwhelming pressure from Liam silenced everyone. Though young, Liam was known for his ruthless tactics and decisive actions, bordering on tyrannical, with a penchant for taking his own counsel. He had moved the company headquarters to Anthana, and now, within a few years, intended to move it back.
Despite the upheaval costing time and resources, and a typical strain on company growth, Liam always managed to keep them ahead of the game. In just a few years abroad, he had clinched the overseas markets, and their salaries had skyrocketed accordingly. They may have felt resistant, but they knew better than to voice it
The sudden quiet of the conference room was broken by the sound of a woman’s voice from a phone. All eyes darted around, wondering who had the gall to not silence their phone during such a critical meeting, especially with Liam’s notorious loathing for interruptions.
Everyone mentally paid their respects to the culprit, but their internal eulogies were cut short by what happened next.
Liam, his intimidating aura now visible, pulled out his phone, and instantly, that fearsome air around him softened.
Cynthia was about to hang up when the once–dark screen suddenly brightened, revealing Liam’s handsome face, the visage of a chaste god in a wilored suit, relaxed against his executive chair.
g all the inquisitive stares around him, Liam spoke. “You’re up early”
Seeing his handsome face, Cynthia’s mind replayed the previous night’s adventures, igniting a spontaneous irritation. And naturally, she directed her annoyance at the main instigator. Frowning prettily, she pouted, “I’m not playing your games anymore.”
“I never realized you’d seem so reserved, but turn out to be such a freak behind the scenes. Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“To even think of doing those kinds of things”
Liam hadn’t expected Cynthia to be so incredibly upset about last night’s incident. As soon as she saw him, she let loose a flood of complaints. Liam gently coughed, interrupting Cynthia’s rant as he swiveled his phone’s camera to face a room full of people.
Seeing the crowded room, Cynthia was so scared that she swallowed the remaining words, embarrassed. There was a dead silence on the other end of the phone
“Why didn’t you give me a heads up?” Cynthia was blushing fiercely, her face as red as an apple.
However, she noticed that most of the people seated were foreigners, so she clung to hope and asked, “They probably don’t understand Clusian, right?
Cynthia tried to comfort herself, assuming that Sullivan Group, an international conglomerate, would likely operate entirely in Uprian. Maybe these people didn’t understand what she’d said.
Her hopes were dashed quickly by Liam. To get into Sullivan Group, Clusian is a prerequisite”
“Ah, how embarrassing!” Cynthia didn’t hesitate before she hung up the phone, mortified. The more she spoke, the worse it got. She tossed and turned in her bed, tangling herself up in dismay, thinking. “What on earth have I let slip out just then!‘
Suddenly, a knock at the door broke Cynthia’s squirming session.
Then she heard Winnie’s voice. “Mrs. Sullivan, Mr. Sullivan says it’s time for breakfast”
Cynthia lifted her bed–hair tangled head, “Alright.”
After quickly getting ready, she stepped out of the bedroom. In the dining room, the meal had been laid out nicely–several appetizers and main dishes that looked quite appetizing.
Cynthia stuffed a piece of bread in her mouth and asked Winnie, “Did Mr. Sullivan call to let me have breakfast just now?”
“Yes, and he said he wanted to make sure you eat plenty, Winnie responded. Cynthia sipped her soup blissfully, thinking, ‘So, this is what marriage looks like?‘
Meanwhile, in the conference room overseas, Liam, after putting down his phone, cast a cool glance at everyone present and spoke with a decisive tone, “In the future, the company’s expansion will primarily focus on the domestic market. But we won’t relax our efforts internationally. Those who do not wish to return can stay here with preferential treatment.
With that, Liam strode out of the room, and Ziv followed close behind
As soon as Liam left, the previously quiet conference room erupted into chaos, with everyone eagerly sharing their shock
“What’s going on! Mr. Sullivan has a hidden paramour?”
“Could it be that he’s determined to move headquarters back home because of this woman!”
“Seeing how concerned he was just now, he’s completely different from his usual cool, ninhless self
“I’m dying to see what kind of woman she is, to be so lucky as to capture his heart.”
