Chapter 51 Christopher Spoils Her to Death

Chapter 51 Christopher Spoils Her to Death

Chapter 51 Christopher Spoils Her to Death

Time passed by in the blink of an eye. Before long, the disastrous crisis brought about by Elizabeth’s

suicide attempt gradually died down.

Diane wanted to divorce Christopher. However, ever since her quick escape from him at the hospital

the other day, he hadn’t come home at all. As a result, she hadn’t seen him in a month.

The only time she was close enough to hear from him was when Scott came over to collect his clothes.

Diane took the chance to ask him about Christopher, and he told her that the man had been staying in

his office recently due to his heavy workload.

Diane didn’t believe that at all. He never came home; if he wasn’t keeping Queenie company every

night, where else could he be?

He couldn’t possibly be spending every night in his cold and empty office, right?

Even though she didn’t believe Scott, she didn’t try to get to the bottom of it either—to her, they were

already divorced. She was only waiting for Christopher to come to his senses and sign the agreement.

Following that, the days passed by steadily. After living on her own for some time in the empty house,

the loneliness and uneasiness she had experienced at first seemed to gradually fade away.

She returned to work at NG Enterprise only after a few days since Christopher wasn’t around to stop

her.

Her time in the office was quite peaceful for a couple of days. However, it was almost time to get off

work on this day when the head of their branch office, Mr. Weaving, visited the Planning Department

out of the blue. He went up to her and told her to attend a banquet tonight.

Diane knew that Mr. Weaving’s offer was more or less influenced by her relationship with Christopher.

She wanted to reject the offer, but when she noticed that some of her colleagues had also been

personally invited by Mr. Weaving, she thought that it wouldn’t look great for her to be the only one who

was absent. With that in mind, she eventually dropped the idea.

After all, attending all sorts of banquets was part and parcel of the corporate world.

What she didn’t expect was to have so many unexpected encounters at an event that was just of a

mediocre scale.

Shortly after she arrived at the venue, a woman’s figure caught her eye.

In fact, she wasn’t the only one who was shocked—Mr. Weaving’s assistant, Alison, was so

dumbfounded as she stood next to her. Her eyes were even popping out of their sockets.

“Is that Stella with Mr. Zeigler from Troy Enterprise? My goodness, it hasn’t even been that long and

she’s already jumped ship. With Norman being sent to jail, she’s somehow looking much more radiant

than before,” Alison whispered in Diane’s ear. Diane stared at Stella who was mingling in the crowd in

front of her, and she let out a silent exclamation.

Stella had recovered almost completely in just over a month—her waist was almost as slim as before.

Whether it was intentional or not, Stella wore a tight-fitting dress that brought out her curves

wonderfully. The dress especially accentuated her breasts which had grown quite a bit in size due to

her pregnancy; they were practically popping out from the tight cutting of the dress.

She was standing right next to Mr. Zeigler with her breasts pressing against his body. The two of them

were engaged in a lively conversation, and they seemed to be quite intimate in their relationship.

“From what I see, she’s really a sl*t by nature,” Alison said again. In her spiteful tone was a hint of

jealousy and admiration as she continued, “She’s found a new man just after leaving NG. What else

can she do other than ride a man’s coattails? It’s such a shame for Norman—he’s not even a few days

in jail and his wife has already run away. Tsk tsk…”

Diane didn’t want to indulge in gossip about Stella, so she only smiled along and changed the subject.

She said, “All right, let’s not talk about her. She’s not in NG anymore, so what’s the point? Let’s head

over to Mr. Weaving.”

“Okay.”

Alison finally averted her gaze from Stella and quickly walked toward Mr. Weaving together with Diane.

In front of them, Mr. Weaving was exchanging greetings and chatting with his acquaintances. As his

secretary, Alison went up to him while Diane stayed behind.

After wandering around for a while in search of her other invited colleagues, she noticed Stella heading

toward her direction from quite a distance away.

Indeed, in Diane’s life, some people were like nightmares—regardless of how hard she tried to avoid

them, they appeared in her life again and again.

Diane’s brows knitted in frustration. Then, she turned and changed her course immediately.

“Diane.”

Despite her efforts, the annoying woman behind her wouldn’t give up. Soon, she caught up to Diane.

“Running away as soon as you see me? I have nothing against you, so why would you do that? Those

things are in the past now; we should forget about them and start fresh,” Stella said in a casual and

light-hearted tone. It was as if she had really let go of the past and forgotten all that had happened.

Truth be told, she had indeed been taking good care of herself—her skin was glowing from within, and

even her long hair had a certain glossy shine to it. A gentle flip of her hair was enough to make her look

unbelievably alluring and womanly.

With Stella standing right next to her, Diane could no longer escape; she could only turn around to face

her.

“Should I congratulate you? How were you able to find your new money tree in just over a month?”

As she spoke, Diane side-eyed in Mr. Zeigler’s direction. Stella didn’t deny her claims and simply gave

her a generous smile.

“Troy Enterprise just happened to be hiring, so I applied. Fortunately, Mr. Zeigler is pretty good to me—

he takes care of me very well.”

Then, she lowered her gaze and put on a helpless and wronged expression. “What can I do? I don’t

have a man who looks after me like you do. I have to make my own money to feed myself, right?”

Stella raised a brow at Diane and stared at her with smiling eyes—a sense of contempt seeped out

under her cheerful facade.

Without waiting for Diane to respond, she gasped in shock all of a sudden.

“Oh, that’s right—have you heard of someone named Queenie? Do you know Miss Hayworth who’d

just joined Evergreen recently? Have you met her?”

As Diane was still confused about the strange mockery in Stella’s eyes from earlier, the answer

revealed itself the next moment.

“If it’s about Christopher, then I’m not too sure. If you’re here to snoop in his private affairs, I’m afraid

you’ve come to the wrong person,” Diane replied calmly before she glanced at Stella and continued,

“Stella, I think it’s time you stop stirring up drama for yourself. After all, it’s not easy to find a man to

lean on. Even though Mr. Zeigler is a little older and uglier than average, at least he’s still rich. Besides,

he fits every quality you look for in a man. That’s why you should stop acting like this—it’d be bad if you

lose your money tree yet again. I mean, how tedious would it be to start all over again and look for

another one?”

“Diane.”

Stella never had much patience to begin with, and her smile faltered at once at the sound of Diane’s Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

words.

“I was right, wasn’t I? Ha! I told you—you’re nothing more than a plaything to Christopher. Now that

he’s found someone new, how could he still remember you? I’ve seen that Queenie before—she’s a

hundred times better than you. Not only is she beautiful and smart, Christopher totally spoils her to

death; everyone in Evergreen already knows about it. Why are you still pretending that you’re someone

important to him?”

It was the first time Diane had ever heard of something like that. After giving it a thought, though,

Stella’s words actually made sense.

Queenie held quite a high position in Evergreen; from the way Christopher had treated her the other

day, it wouldn’t be unusual to think that she was constantly pampered by Christopher.

At that moment, she believed Stella wholeheartedly and her heart sank just a little.

Nonetheless, she didn’t let her devastation show. Diane couldn’t let Stella get what she wanted, for she

knew that the woman was just waiting to have a good laugh.

Instead, Diane maintained a calm and composed smile. “How thoughtful of you. I’m afraid your worries

are unnecessary, though. Some of us are not like you—some people can succeed without a man, you

know. I’m doing great without Norman, and my life is fine without Christopher as well. Thanks for your

concern, Miss Mayfair, but I don’t need it.”

Just then, she paused while the smile on her face deepened. “Oh, I forgot to remind you—whatever it

is, I’m still Mrs. Wayne, so I hope you can treat me with a little more respect, Miss Mayfair. Even if

Christopher doesn’t care about me, he’d have no choice if it involves my status as his wife. After all, my

humiliation may reflect on the Wayne Family’s reputation. So, think about it—if anything happens,

wouldn’t he blame that Mr. Zeigler of yours? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

With that, Diane turned around with an elegant smile still plastered on her face.

She wanted nothing more than to leave that bothersome woman. To her surprise, as soon as she

looked away, a tall and handsome figure came into view without a warning.
