Chapter 30 This Seems to Be None of Your Business
After a few clicks of the shutter, Norman put away his cell phone and looked at Diane with a fiendish
smile. “Let’s see how much Christopher cares about you.”
Diane didn’t quite understand what Norman meant, and she merely reached up instinctively to snatch
at his cell phone. Unfortunately, he clutched the cell phone in his hand so tightly that she didn’t even
manage to touch it.
“Save your strength.” Norman snorted coldly while placing the cell phone beyond her reach. After that,
he pressed himself on top of her bare and smooth body again and groped it presumptuously with his
hand. His palm, which was sweaty and ice-cold, felt like a venomous snake crawling slowly on her
body.
“You’ll come to a bad end, Norman.” Diane gritted her teeth as she stared at Norman in despair, the
tears in her eyes apparent.
“Ha…” Norman sneered. “I’m as good as dead anyway, aren’t I? Diane, you should know how much
effort I have put in to make my way from the countryside to the city; I worked my way up from an entry-
level employee to a director. Just as my hard times came to an end after so many years, you let
Christopher erase all my hard work with just a word. What’s so great about Christopher? He’s superior
to me from birth simply because he was born into the Wayne Family. Does that give him the right to
dominate over me? This is unfair, Diane! This is unfair!” A chilling glint flickered in his eyes as the hand
that roamed over Diane’s body moved up to her neck and held her face up. “Why is God so unfair to
me? Tell me! Why?”
“You only have yourself to blame,” Diane replied between clenched teeth.
Norman fell silent for a moment before his hand that was pressing against Diane’s cheek suddenly
moved downward and choked her. “What have I done wrong? All I did was fall in love with a woman. Is
that such a big deal? Why won’t you face reality, Diane? Why shouldn’t I be fed up after being together
with you for so many years? Also, that family of yours is like a bottomless pit. Your father is a gambling
addict, whereas your mother can only earn a living by doing odd jobs. What kind of help can they give
me? At the very least, Stella’s from a well-to-do family that I don’t have to support financially. She is
pregnant with my baby; not only is she wholeheartedly willing to be together with me, but she also
doesn’t ask too much of me either. Why wouldn’t I marry her? Didn’t you become Christopher’s woman,
Diane? How respectable are you compared to me?” he asked in reply while choking Diane with all his
might.
Diane kept coughing due to the unbearable pain in her neck, and it was with great difficulty that she
uttered between clenched teeth, “I became Christopher’s woman because you forced me to! I never
thought of betraying you. Since you despise me so much, why did you marry me back then, Norman?”
“Who would’ve been willing to marry you if it weren’t for the house?”
At that time, Norman was the most inferior kind of man in the eyes of the local ladies. He was a non-
local person from the countryside with an average job and no distinguished background, so they never
even considered marrying such a man; only Diane loved him unconditionally and even fell out with her
family to be together with him. Not only that, she took out the money that she had saved since working
her way through college to make the down payment on a house using his name.
Since Norman didn’t have a choice back then, he could only compromise himself. However, his
condition improved a lot after his promotion. As he became a social elite, he decided not to
compromise himself anymore. To him, Diane had become a torn rag that should be disposed of—she
was just unaware of it.
Diane felt bitterly disappointed upon hearing Norman’s words, and tears gushed from her eyes. She
wanted to swear, but she found that whatever kind of remarks would be too soft on this kind of jerk.
After gritting her teeth hard, she began to fight back fiercely. As she desperately tried to free her arms
and legs from his hold, she hit and kicked him fiercely.
In the beginning, she had slight success as she landed a few punches on Norman. However, Norman
was a tall and strong man, so he soon held down her angry fists.
“Behave yourself!” Norman growled at Diane between clenched teeth. Then, he relaxed his grip and © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
suddenly picked up a cup of coffee from the table near them. “Drink this.”
“What’s this?” Diane stared wide-eyed at the white porcelain coffee cup. Needless to say, Norman
wouldn’t ask her to drink coffee at this moment for no reason.
Norman frowned with a look of impatience. “Just drink it as I tell you to.” He relaxed his grip on Diane’s
arms before he squeezed her jaw and forced her to open her mouth. Then, he held up the coffee and
poured it down her throat.
The coffee had cooled completely since no one knew when it had been served. Its sharp bitterness and
coldness made their way into Diane’s mouth and upset her windpipe, causing her to cough severely.
She swung her fists and punched Norman desperately, but he remained perfectly still with his body on
top of hers like a mountain. Half of the brown liquid was poured into her mouth, whereas the other half
spilled out everywhere.
A few seconds later, Norman put the emptied coffee cup back onto the table. At the same time, a fit of
dizziness came over Diane; she only felt that her eyes were blurring, and her head was getting heavier
and heavier.
I’m being drugged! The thought came into Diane’s mind, but she was already unable to save the
situation. She had no idea where Norman had gotten this drug from, but its effects were overpowering.
It took only several minutes before she slowly closed her eyes and could no longer stay awake.
As she was in a trance, she saw Norman holding up his cell phone with a grin and moving his lips.
However, she could no longer hear what he said, for she only knew that the grin on his face looked as
scary as a demon’s.
…
Meanwhile, in a classical-style Japanese restaurant located next to Evergreen Incorporated downtown,
a waiter dressed in traditional Japanese costume served the last dish before saying with a big smile,
“All the dishes are served, mister and miss. Please enjoy your food.”
After the waiter left, a woman sitting in the booth on the left—who wore branded clothes and exquisite
makeup—clumsily picked up a pair of ivory chopsticks. After clenching the chopsticks in her hand, she
held them in a proper way and asked with a smile, “Why would you treat me to Japanese food? You
never liked Japanese food before.”
“My taste has changed over time,” Christopher answered as he deftly picked up his chopsticks and
raised them across from her.
“Oh, is that so? Then what’s to your taste now?” The woman wasn’t interested in the food, though.
After adjusting the way she held her chopsticks, she didn’t pick up any food. Instead, she merely stared
at Christopher with a pair of big sparkling eyes and asked, “Is it someone like Diane?”
“You’re quite well-informed,” Christopher remarked flatly. Then, he held up his rice bowl and casually
ate a few mouthfuls of rice while lowering his head without much of an expression.
Compared to his indifference, the woman’s gaze from across him was much more intent. She fixed her
eyes on him without moving them away even once. “Are you really married?”
Christopher paused for a moment before he cocked an eyebrow and glanced at her. “Yes, I am.”
The woman’s gorgeous face froze slightly, and her clear eyes dimmed a little. “What kind of lady is
she? Is she pretty? Is she curvaceous or particularly outstanding? Did she impress you?”
Christopher was silent. It wasn’t until he put down his bowl that he replied, “No, not at all. There’s
nothing good about her.”
“In that case, why would you…” The woman couldn’t help but frown.
Christopher stared at her face for a few seconds before he smiled. “This seems to be none of your
business, Queenie.”
