Chapter 21 Where Have You Been

Chapter 21 Where Have You Been

“Mmm! Mmm…” Diane struggled desperately, but the man held her in a vice-like grip with his arm and

dragged her away. Since he was dragging her from behind, she couldn’t get a clear look at his face, but

she could tell who he was from his scent.

It took only a minute or two before the man dragged her into the lounge next door and slammed the

door shut. “Diane.” After he let go of her, he shoved her up against the wall and held his forearm to her

neck, restraining her with all his might.

“You… You’re crazy…” Diane glared at Norman as her neck hurt a lot from being choked.

Norman’s eyes were bulging out of their sockets with visible red veins in them. Meanwhile, his teeth

gnashed together as if he wanted to crush Diane between them. “Since when did you carry on with

Christopher? Is that baby his? What the hell is your present relationship with him?”

“Is that any of your business? You’re already my ex-husband,” Diane asked scornfully in reply while

staring at him. “Are you angry or jealous, Norman? You’re jealous of me because I’m doing better than

you, aren’t you? In that case, I should tell you that the accident happened between us only because

you were called away by Stella that night. You know as well what happened after that; we divorced,

then I married him. Listen here—I’m married to him, so I’m not some mistress. Please show me some

respect since I’m Mrs. Wayne now, do you understand me?” She suddenly found that her status as

Mrs. Wayne was quite useful.

Disbelief flickered in Norman’s eyes as he stared into Diane’s. “Mrs. Wayne? Are you dreaming? Why

would Christopher marry you?”

“Ha…” Diane chuckled. “Can’t we be destined for each other? If you don’t believe me, you can ask him.

I don’t care whether you believe it or not; it’s sufficient as long as I know that myself anyway. My

husband is still waiting for me, Mr. Adler. He’ll be angry if you do this.”

Then, she gave Norman’s arm a hard push. Just as he released his hold on her, he suddenly leaned

forward and pressed his entire body against hers.

Diane was startled by this and frantically tried to fend Norman off with her hand, but he moved his face

close to hers. “You b*tch! How dare you betray me and hook up with Christopher? I don’t believe this.

Which part of you could he possibly take a fancy to? You’re nothing but an adulterous woman who’s no

longer a virgin—”

“Shut up, Norman!” Furious, Diane swung her fists and beat Norman with all her might. Nonetheless,

she was still a woman—how could she fight off a man who was towering with rage? Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

Norman stood unmoving before he lowered his head and kissed Diane on her neck, sinking his razor-

sharp teeth into her skin. The bite hurt so much that she couldn’t help but scream, “You’re an *sshole,

Norman!”

Norman relaxed his bite for a moment to glare at Diane with wickedly ferocious eyes. Then, as his

mouth curved into a chillingly fiendish smile, he leaned over again and kissed her fiercely. How did the

woman I dump become Christopher’s acquaintance? Hmph! I’ll let this woman know that she can only

be subservient to me forever and never ride roughshod over me!

Christopher’s status and standing pricked Norman like a thorn in his flesh, not to mention the former’s

looks and bearing which were far more outstanding than his. At the thought of this, Norman assaulted

her with even greater strength.

A feeling of disgust surged up within Diane when Norman’s lips pressed against hers. Just then, they

suddenly heard someone speaking outside the door. It was a colleague from the branch office, and she

was talking about Christopher. “Finally, we met Christopher Wayne in person today…”

These words were irrelevant to their current situation, but since they were by the door, Norman was

startled for a moment as a flicker of panic flashed across his eyes. Meanwhile, Diane seized this

opportunity—she suddenly bent her head and bit into Norman’s wrist. At the same time, she lifted her

foot and stamped it on Norman’s as hard as possible.

As soon as Norman flinched back in pain, Diane shoved him out of the way with all her might. She then

turned around, grabbed the door handle, pulled the door open, and ran out of the room before reaching

the banquet hall’s back door. Soon enough, she heard the babble of the crowd inside. When she

realized that Norman hadn’t come after her, she stopped in her tracks and heaved a sigh of relief.

Instead of getting inside at once, she stood at the door and straightened her clothes which Norman had

creased just now. Then, she took a deep breath and was about to step inside when she bumped head-

on into Stella—the latter happened to be coming this way.

“Why are you here?” Stella questioned while staring at Diane’s face. Soon after that, she noticed from

Diane’s expression that something was wrong. “Where’s Norman? Didn’t you ask him out?”

Diane—whose anger was still burning within her—gave a cold, loud snort. “I lost interest in that moldy

bun of yours a long time ago. Please go back and warn him not to be so thirsty as to not let go of his

ex-wife whom he has already divorced.”

“What are you talking about?” Stella’s eyes widened as she cast them around Diane’s exposed neck

and shoulders like an X-ray.

“Get out of my way.” Since she wasn’t in the mood to care about Stella, Diane yanked her aside and

stepped into the banquet hall. Just after taking a few steps inside, she spotted Christopher; he

appeared to be searching for her as he weaved in and out of the crowd. Not daring to keep him waiting

any longer, she immediately walked up to him.

As expected, Christopher’s face darkened the instant he saw her. “Where have you been? Didn’t I tell

you to wait for me here?”

“I just went over there with a colleague for a chat.” Diane casually pointed her finger in a direction.

Christopher looked in the direction she pointed for a moment, but as he withdrew his gaze, his eyes

suddenly fell on her neck. He didn’t say a word, but his gaze was so intent that Diane’s heartbeat

quickened. She even subconsciously reached for the spot on her neck that his eyes were focused on,

but he brushed her hand aside with his fingers before it could touch her neck.

A touch of coldness penetrated Diane’s skin as Christopher’s fingertips pressed against the spot on her

neck. “Did Norman do this?” His voice came in a whisper with blood-curdling chilliness like the wind in

late autumn.

Christopher’s eyes were piercing, and they stared at the spot—which still stung a little—where Norman

had bit into just now. Diane didn’t expect a hickey to be left there, and she could no longer hide the

incident from him anymore.

“Did you willingly go with him?” Christopher questioned again before Diane could speak. His tone

sounded calm, but his words were very chilling.

“No, I didn’t. I was eating over there when he dragged me somewhere else.”

“What else did he do?” Christopher’s eyes grew increasingly cold as he stared at Diane.

“Nothing. A colleague happened to walk past the lounge afterward; he didn’t dare to do anything, so I

ran away,” Diane explained while lifting her face up to stare at Christopher. She didn’t know if it was

because she had been in awe of the Wayne Family as a child, but even now, she was always nervous

in front of this man for no reason. What happened just now wasn’t her fault, but as she faced

Christopher right now, she felt as though she had committed a terrible mistake, for he looked incredibly

angry. When he didn’t speak, Diane anxiously said, “Christopher, I—”

However, before she could finish her sentence, Christopher suddenly grabbed her wrist. Then, he

dragged her toward the banquet hall’s back door without saying a word.

“Christopher!” Diane called anxiously, but Christopher ignored her. He didn’t let go of her hand until he

dragged her all the way out of the banquet hall the way Norman did just now.

As he stared at her, his thin lips slowly parted.
