A Billionaire’s Ruse

The Thortons

Emily’s POV

“I will be right back Emily. I won’t take long, but if you need my attention before I get back, all you have to do is press the bell on the table and I’ll come right away.

A change of clothes has been laid out on the bed, pick anyone that catches your fancy.” She said and I heard the click of a lock not long after.

I sighed, soaking myself further in the bathe. The temperature of the water seeping into my bones and healing it. I wish I could stay here all day. I packed a handful of bubble and blew it into the air.

I picked a sunflower petal floating on the water and sniffed it. It was sweet smelling. I closed my eyes for a second to savour the scent and I moved deeper into the bathe.

I picked my watch from the side table and checked the time. The time was 2:00am. My mind drifted to the event of the past 6 hours. It was a very long and tiring time.

At the beginning of the day, I did not expect that I will get to see Alex and come to an agreement with him that will save my father’s company.

Alex. Alexio. He seems so different from the man I married 8 months ago. What could have brought about the change. The last time I saw him, he was being his usual self, a bastard.

Is he playing games with me? How could I trust his words after he failed so woefully to keep it after I got married to him? I can’t really pinpoint the reason, I just seem to have this big trust in his words this time.

It might be because of Jim. Jim was a trusted friend. But why is he working with Alex? How did they meet? Why did he ignore me earlier?

I felt a sharp throb ring from the right corner of my head. It was painful, I had to stop thinking for a while. I just sat there in the water and closed my eyes.

All these is just too much for me to handle alone. I have to call Ann, but I felt too lazy to leave this tub now. Rather, I closed my eyes, wanting to savour it a bit longer. I made a mental note to call her immediately I get out of the tub later.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

My mind drifted to Alex once again. He is not a man to stay with one woman. I could not say what made him pick intereste in me all of a sudden but I’m sure it will wear off soon.

All I just have to do is satisfy him when he comes around and pray that he loses interest in me soon and faces his Barbie with the brown hair.

Margaret O’Connor. The name brings bad memories. She had always been after things that are mine. She had moved to our neighborhood after Alex and I got married and familiarised herself to Alex in no time.

I thought of my mum and my dad. The stuff they have been through. The ups and the downs they have face since that incident five years ago. The downs outweighing the ups. I wish I had stood my ground then. I would probably be the happiest woman on earth now.

The tears came of their own accord. I could not even stop them. I miss James. I miss him so much.

If he were here, I would not be in this situation to begin with. He loved me so much and I also loved him, but I just had to listen to my mother and broke my promise to him.

I can’t even hate her. She only wanted the best for me, as she claimed. My mum has a good heart but she is also strong headed. She believes what she believes.

Narrator’s POV

“Believe in yourself and your potential, and let your passion and motivation guide you to success!”

The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, their eyes full of hope and excitement.

Emilh smiled, knowing that her words had struck a chord with them and that her message had resonated deeply.

This was a moment she would never forget.

As she stood on the stage, basking in the energy of the crowd, she felt a surge of pride and joy.

Her fiance, Edward stood close to her, beaming with smiles. She returned to have her seat.

This was her first speech in the family annual youth carnival since she got engaged to Edward.

They’ve been engaged now for over a year and Edward is still not prepared to take the next step. It has been one excuse to the other.

Emily is a young woman of great poise and sophistication. She had been raised with the finest education and manners, and was groomed from an early age to be different.

She was well-spoken and polished, with a keen eye for fashion and social graces. She’s known for her impeccable taste in clothing and jewelry, and was seen as a role model for other young women in society.

Her parents had tried for so many years to conceive but there was no success. They were barely living their day to day life, until she came and brought joy to their lives.

They could still remember the day they got the news of her conception. So, Mr. Robert Thorton has vowed that no matter the gender of the child, he or she will be the apple of his eyes.

He was going to make him or her a force to be reckon with in the architectural world.

Little wonder, that all the toys that Emily had had as a child had an architectural touch to it.

Sarah, her mother was not left behind, in the dream she had for her darling child when she was born. She tooka extra care to make sure she stands with her head held high no matter where she finds herself.
